Tawasul Transport drives green innovation by launching first hydrogen-powered taxi in Abu Dhabi
The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is set for its first green-hydrogen-powered smart taxi experience. Tawasul Transport, a leading transport company, is collaborating with ADNOC, the Integrated Transport Center (ITC) and Al Futtaim Motors, to create this trailblazing sustainable urban mobility initiative.
Tawasul Transport, together with Al Futtaim Motors, will provide the operational data, including kilometers driven, green hydrogen consumption, operating hours and clean refueling procedures. By adopting a transparent data-driven approach, operational efficiency can be improved while accelerating the integration of sustainable and innovative transport solutions.

Tawasul Transport, in collaboration with ADNOC, ITC, and Al Futtaim Motors, has introduced Abu Dhabi’s first hydrogen-powered taxi, marking a significant advancement in sustainable urban mobility. The initiative features the new-generation Toyota Mirai, which offers a 100% electric, zero-emission driving experience. This move aligns with broader efforts to achieve carbon neutrality and promote environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
These innovative taxis are refueled at the first high-speed green hydrogen refueling station in Masdar City, operated by ADNOC Distribution. Tawasul, operating since 2007, is reinforcing its role in transforming Abu Dhabi into a sustainable mobility hub. Their green initiative is part of a broader vision to harmonize mobility with the environment, showcasing a commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future in transportation.
