Tawasul Obtains One of the First Official Permits to Operate Autonomous Vehicles in Abu Dhabi
The Integrated Transport Centre has announced the start of commercial operations for Level 4 autonomous vehicles, a first-of-its-kind milestone in the Middle East and North Africa.
In this context, Tawasul has obtained one of the earliest official operating permits as an autonomous vehicle operator in Abu Dhabi, as part of the pilot phase led by WeRide, in collaboration with Uber and Tawasul.
The permits were granted after meeting all safety and operational readiness requirements, and after the vehicles successfully passed a series of rigorous tests covering performance evaluation, sensor systems, and real-world traffic responses within Abu Dhabi.
With this step, Abu Dhabi reinforces its leadership in the future of smart mobility, and Tawasul is proud to be part of this future.
